Hi. I am Clark Fowler. I am 81 years old and have had some health scares along the way. More
Hospital
It all started in January 2015. I wasn’t feeling well and so I was just sitting around being lazy.
Finally, I asked my wife to take me to the hospital.
We waited in the waiting room for over an hour. I finally got to triage. I answered all their questions and ultimately went back to the waiting room.
After another hour, they called me back and the nurse inserted an IV and started an IV drip.
I little while later, the doctor came in and asked more questions regarding how I felt. I told him that I was weak and that my chest was thumping. He requested some tests for me: an XRAY, an EKG, and blood work.
One by one I was taken to each of the tests. I waited between each one of them.
After the tests, once again we waited in the ER room for the doctor to review the results, for about 45 minutes.
Diagnosis
Finally, the doctor came back and talked to my wife and me. He told us that I had A-FIB (atrial fibrillation). My wife and I sat in shock for a few minutes. We never expected this.
The doctor left and said he wanted to converse with his colleagues to determine the best A-FIB treatment. After about an hour, the doctor came back and said that they wanted to admit me so they could use a heart monitor to see if there was a pattern to the heart rhythms.
In about 2 hours I was in a room. Hopefully it would only be for one night,
The next day was also full of surprises. During the day, I went into an A-FIB attack. The doctors and nurses rushed to get the rhythm back and THEY WERE SUCCESSFUL.
They monitored my heart for the rest of the day and kept me over another night to keep watching it.
The next day after a very good night, I was discharged and given four different medicines.
Blessed
To this day, I am living with the A_FIB. It is well controlled. I haven’t had an A-FIB attack, but I still have a noticeable irregular heartbeat.
Thanks to the good Lord and the doctors and nurses, I am doing very well today.
